Rugby Dinner

Rugby Dinner

Thursday 18th November at 18.30 | £75.00 per person | 3-Course Dinner and Talk

Scotland’s Roger Baird and Huw Davies of England took on the very best during their respective international rugby careers, including each other in the Calcutta Cup (with Davies making his full England debut against Scotland). Baird also wore the British & Irish Lions jersey with distinction on the 1983 tour of New Zealand, scoring a memorable Test match try against the All Blacks. As for Davies, he was part of England’s 1987 rugby World Cup squad. Their paths will cross again on November 18th when they will both join members of the Rag for a rugby dinner celebrating the oval ball game.

Over supper, they will consider the autumn internationals, the recent summer’s Lions’ tour and the forthcoming Six Nations next spring, as well as the wider game, past, present and future. An evening that is guaranteed to feature the pleasure of revisiting some of rugby’s golden moments in the past and also critique where the game is now, a quarter century on since the amateur days of Baird and Davies were replaced by today’s professional code. Join us for a drinks reception on arrival followed by an intimate three-course dinner in conversation with Roger and Huw in The Nelson Room.
