Waterloo Dinner
The Army and Navy Club recently upheld its cherished tradition of commemorating the Battle of Waterloo with an elegant dinner in the Pall Mall Room, featuring Colonel Tim Collins as the esteemed Guest of Honour and Speaker. Members gathered first for a convivial welcome drinks reception in the Drawing Room, setting the tone for a memorable evening of reflection, fine dining, and thought-provoking discourse.
Colonel Collins, a distinguished Belfast-born officer with a storied military career, captivated attendees with his address on the evolving challenges of defending the realm in today’s complex world. Drawing from his experiences since commissioning into the Army in 1981 and serving with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Irish Rangers in Berlin, he provided a unique blend of historical perspective and forward-looking insights.
The event was enriched by a sumptuous three-course dinner, enjoyed amidst the camaraderie of fellow members. The evening stood as a testament to the Club’s enduring commitment to honouring military history while engaging with the pressing issues of our time. It was an occasion of both celebration and contemplation, leaving members inspired and reflective as they toasted to the legacy of Waterloo and the continued service of those who protect the nation.
