Sir John Timpson is a highly successful businessman, who transformed the family company (Timpson’s) into a national group. He and his late wife, Alex, have been at the forefront of the debate on prison reform and, on a practical note, installed Timpson’s workshops in many prisons and have a strong track record of hiring ex-prisoners. In addition to three children of their own, the Timpsons adopted two and fostered 90 over a long period.
