TLC Talk: Paris: A Modern History in Six Lives – Julian Sturdy-Morton
Monday 23rd March at 11:00 | £15
Paris is one of the most alluring cities in Europe. People have been drawn to Paris from all over France and all over the world. This is a slide-rich look at the city’s evolution over almost two centuries through the eyes and lives of six people who were not born as Parisians. It looks at the impact of the city on the individuals and the impact of six fascinating characters on the city that, for a time, each chose as home.
I have travelled to Paris very frequently since the mid-1950s, lived there in the 1960s, worked there in the 1980s and 1990s. Paris has some of the most bewitching architecture and beautiful urban vistas of any city I know. And, with characters like Chopin, Toulouse-Lautrec, the White Rabbit and Josephine Baker, Paris provides a fabulous backdrop against which to tell many rich stories.
