Fordham Abbey estate in Cambridgeshire is around 700 years old and was originally home to Gilbertine monks. Today, thanks to Mrs. Kiyomi Hashimoto, the 200-acre estate now boasts Britain’s first-ever Sake brewery founded by her family after investing in the land and Georgian manor house in 2015. Mrs. Hashimoto was not actually scheduled to look at the site when she was busy visiting spots a decade ago that might prove to be a place to brew for what her family has a deserved reputation for excellence.
