Conservation at the Club

Conservation at the Club

Back in 2018, a generous legacy from long-time Member Commander George Greaves enabled us to kick-start a program of conservation, cleaning and repair work. A number of artworks and archive documents have since benefited from the best conservation, cleaning and repair work from professionals across the country.

Since then we have been lucky enough to receive donations from other Members who want to contribute to this important work. Some of the items we have worked on are:

  • – The re-varnishing of the portrait of Queen Victoria by Sir Francis Grant. –
  • – The cleaning of the Kudu head and stag head. –
  • – Restoring three important sets of historical documents held at the London Metropolitan Archives. –
  • – The conservation of the portrait of General Beresford in the Pall Mall Room, including a new frame. –
And much more besides!

Should you wish to donate to the fund please follow the instructions below. To find out more about leaving a legacy in your will to support the Club, please get in touch with CEO Robin Bidgood.
