Cigars on the Terrace

Cigars on the Terrace
Tuesday 17th March at 18.30 | Ribbon Bar & Terrace | £30.00

The ideal start to the new year for Rag cigar lovers; the House of Cuaba is well known for sticks that are tapered, both head and foot, which is sometimes known as the Perfecto format. So a Cuaba Distinguidos – a capuleto 162mm and 52-ring gauge vitola and figurados shape – will be a flawless resumption of these popular tasting evenings.

While other makers sometimes favour torpedo ends occasionally for special releases, every Cuaba cigar has this top and tail. Back in the nineteenth century this was far more common than today. Such cigars are now seen as a celebration of artisanal methods and qualities as the style is much harder to hand roll. To meet growing demand the style fell out of favour. Then 30 years ago, the House of Cuaba was established to celebrate some true Cuban cigar history and culture of excellence.

The intention was to try and echo the Montecristo flavours. Perhaps consensus is that a Cuaba is closer to Romeo y Julieta, made in the same Briones Montoto factor. Ultimately, Cuaba is a unique blend of tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region, with the Distinguidos dating back to 1998. Then this evening’s offering will be, as a newcomer, presented in a Millennium Reserve ceramic jar humidor favoured for special releases and humidors.

Something special in your glass will accompany what is most likely a departure from your usual cigar.

New year. New smoke.
