THE BRIEFING ROOM: THE SERVICES AND COVID; HOW THE ARMY STEPPED UP
Dr. Darren Mann, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Army Medical Corps and consultant surgeon, has a wide and extended range of experiences practicing medicine in conflict zones stretching back 25 years. At the outbreak of COVID, he was deployed as Medical Director for the Cabinet Office National Covid-19 PPE Taskforce, tasked to ensure adequate provision of protective equipment to meet the unfolding and unprecedented healthcare crisis.
Join Dr. Mann in the Briefing Room to hear from him how critical the services were in addressing a raft of issues that emerged with the onset of COVID, supporting and sustaining the national response. Hear how military mindsets and approaches to issues helped find solutions to seemingly insurmountable problems. Share also in the lighter “Pandomime” moments as every crisis brings some comic moments in its wake.
After a stimulating hour in the Briefing Room, join Dr. Mann for supper where discussions can continue as well as broaden and deepen in less formal surroundings.
An evening that will reinforce the notion of how services can come to the rescue in peace time crisis and also highlight the other important PPE of this time; namely Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.
