The Commodore and Flag Officers of the recently constituted Rag Yacht Squadron are delighted to invite all club members and their partners/guests to their inaugural formal dinner to mark the end of the season.

We have secured as an after dinner speaker the Army’s current Rear Commodore Offshore Racing, Lieutenant Colonel Will Naylor who will be giving a brief but entertaining summary of “Soldiers at Sea”. Members will be able to discern from the attached biography the range of interesting experiences Lt Col Naylor can speak about.

All members with an interest in sailing and the sea, plus all who enjoy a traditional dinner at the Club in convivial company, are welcome to apply for tickets for themselves and guests/partners below.

Lieutenant Colonel Will Naylor BEng CEng FIMechE

Lt Col Will Naylor commissioned in Aug 2003 into the REME. His 21-year career so far has seen him command at every level as well as a raft of staff roles from current operations to training posts. Operationally, he has deployed to Iraq numerous times and Somalia. He has also worked with NATO, UN and coalition partners. Will assumed the appointment of Chief Instructor of the REME Arms School in January 2022.

Will’s passion is adventurous training; predominantly sailing, skiing, and cycling. He has been a regular skipper of the Army Offshore Racing team for over 15 years and is currently the Rear Commodore Offshore Racing. He has clocked up over 50000 nm of sailing (equivalent of over 2 laps of the globe) and has extensive racing, instructor and leadership experience. Lt Col Naylor has crossed many oceans and rounded 2 of the 3 great Capes including Cape Horn. Racing experience includes 6 Rolex Fastnet Races, the Sydney-Hobart Race and 4 Round Britain and Ireland Races
