Camel Trek in Wadi Rum Jordan | 9-11 May
Dear Members of The Rag,
We are excited to extend an invitation to all Rag members for a fantastic Adventure Circle opportunity—a Camel Tour & Camping Trip in the stunning Wadi Rum, Jordan, taking place from 9–11 May 2025. This trip will be a unique chance to experience the breathtaking desert landscapes, enjoy camel rides, and camp under the stars. Many of you will be familiar with Wadi Rum from the iconic Lawrence of Arabia film, which was filmed in this spectacular desert setting.
Trip Details:
• Arrival: Members should aim to arrive in Wadi Rum Village by 18.00 on 8th May. From there 4x4s will take riders to the desert to stay in a traditional Bedouin camp that night.
• Camel Trek: We will set off on camels the next morning (9th May) and trek across the desert for three days and two nights, sleeping under the stars each night. Traditional Bedouin food will be cooked over the fire each night. The last night (11th May) we will sleep again at the Bedouin camp and have a well deserved shower and traditional celebration meal, and then the next morning 4x4s will take us back to wadi rum village where where we will connect with internal transport.
• Inclusions: Camels (very important), food, snacks, water, and blankets. Members are advised to bring a small sleeping bag if required, wash kit and head torch.
• Accommodation: Two nights in the Bedouin camp before and after the trek, outdoor Bedouin camping two nights.
• Fitness: A reasonable level of fitness is required for mounting the camels and some light walking.
Additional Information:
• Flights & Transfers: Not included, but we will coordinate as a group to keep costs down for internal transfers.
• Petra Stopover: Petra is along the route from Amman to Wadi Rum, and members who haven’t visited are strongly encouraged to stop on the way. Happy to advise and liaise on this.
Availability & Cost:
• 12 completely free places available on a first-come, first-served basis for members.
• Additional riders and non-members can join on a cost-covering basis.
