The 1830s was a stellar decade. Foremost of course The Rag came into being. At the same time, the Dalmore distillery was also established in 1839, so following in esteemed footsteps, two years later.
Since then, especially through innovative use of casks from some of the very best bodegas and wineries, the name Dalmore has become synonymous with single malt whiskies of the highest caliber and distinction. From a principal collection to limited editions, as well as rare and prestige offering, not to mention the Distillery Select Series.
At this special whisky supper, savour the distillery’s work at the table before, amid, and at the conclusion of dinner, while in parallel learning about a heritage that is behind the striking 12-point stag antler on Dalmore bottles. This is a historic reference to the Mackenzie Clan, descendants of which took over the distillery in 1867. Back in 1263, the emblem was bestowed upon Colin of Kintail, the first chieftain of Clan Mackenzie, after he saved the life of King Alexander III of Scotland from a charging stag and untimely death.
There are probably at least 12 reasons for taking a place at this table. An evening that stands to transport you to 20 miles north of Inverness and banks of the Cromarty Firth overlooking the Black Isle or “big meadowland” from which the Dalmore distillery takes its name.
