Watch Supper with James Dowling

Watch Supper with James Dowling, Author of The Rolex Legacy
Monday 27th April at 19.00 | Drawing Room | £80.00 per person

Very little, if anything, comes out of the high-security, top-secret Rolex headquarters in Geneva and Bienne, on high in Switzerland – other than, of course, the most totemic of time pieces. Rolex watches are seemingly expected to speak for themselves.

Leaving aside the ambassadors (“testimonees”) over the years – history makers and sporting greats such as Sir Edmund Hillary, Arnold Palmer, Sir Jackie Stewart, and Roger Federer, among other – if there is a Rolex representative on earth it is James Dowling, the hugely-respected horology doyen. To write his acclaimed “The Rolex Legacy: the history of Rolex through 120 seminal and rare watches” to mark 12 decades of excellence, James was granted unique insight into the archive. Add this to his encyclopaedic understanding of where Rolex is in the watch landscape and there is little surprise that the tome, published at the end of last year to mark the notable 120-year anniversary of Rolex’s foundation, is already into a third reprint.
